BELL SCHEDULE FOR TUESDAYTuesday is PSAT review day and we'll have a different bell schedule. Please report directly to your Advisement Class by 8:20. Here's the bell schedule for tomorrow - Tuesday, 1/9/18 Warning Bell 8:15 Advisement 8:20 – 8:28 1st period 8:34 – 10:06 2nd period 10:12 – 11:47 3rd period 11:53 – 1:51 A 11:53 – 12:21 B 12:25 – 12:51 C 12:55 – 1:21 D 1:25 – 1:51 4th period 1:57 – 3:30 See you tomorrow! Falcons Win! Bills lose, but respectably against a top offense. Good luck to both sides in NCAA Championship tomorrow. Drive carefully, be safe. See you Tuesday. EVERYONEI'm writing this before any of the games this weekend, so I'm still full of hope for all of our teams: the Falcons, the Bills, and the Bulldogs. Best of luck to all (yes even the Rams, Jaguars, and Bama fans) MUST HAVE!!!SD CARD: As I have stated in my syllabus for your course (see right side bar), EVERYONE needs to have their own SD card to use with our digital cameras. They need to be CLASS 10 to work with the HD video we record in. You can tell that it's a Class 10 card by the number 10 in the circle on the card. (see examples above). An 8 GB card should suffice, although you may have to clear it periodically as it will fill up fast. Our own HOLE IN THE WALL school store sells 16GB cards for a very reasonable price. Please DO NOT purchase these from non-technology stores like Publix, Kroger, CVS, etc. I used to manage CVS stores and grocery stores. These types of products weren't our "bread & butter" (bad pun - sorry) and were known as "impulse purchases". We would mark these up several hundred percent, because we could. I've known people to spend over $30 for a 16GB card, when they can get it for under $15 from the Hole In The Wall. E-MAIL - Thanks to all those who sent me an e-mail with their PROFESSIONAL e-mail. I didn't see any offensive e-mail addresses, however please be sure to think of a college or business recruiter reading your e-mail and what they'll visualize when they see your e-mail address. Cartoon characters, cutesy names, etc. in your e-mail address may invoke a vision of someone who's not as serious as they would like. That's not to say you should delete such e-mail address, rather consider creating one specifically to be used with businesses, colleges, etc.. (Just remember to check it occasionally). If you haven't sent me your e-mail yet, please do so ASAP. If received on Monday - it will be a 75 in the grade book, Tuesday = 50, Wednesday = 25. Don't give up the easy 100. CONTRACT SIGNATURE PAGE: Please be sure to bring in the signed Contract signature page (only). Both you and a parent needs to sign. This is due Monday, 1/8/18 CLASS NOTEBOOK - Please be sure to check and make sure you can access your Class Notebook as this is where the assignments and due dates are located. Remember the log-in info follows this format: Login: (formalfirst.lastname)@students.cobbk12.org Pw: (network password) There are links to helpful videos on how to access and use the Class Notebook in the right sidebar of my blog. Please be sure to check them out if you're having issues. If you continue to have problems logging in, please let me know ASAP so we can get it fixed. HARRISON TODAY - HSPN - HOYAVISIONREMIND: If you didn't get a chance to sign up for this semester's Broadcast Class Remind, please do so. Here's the link to sign up: SPR18HTHSPNHV REMIND FLIPGRID ASSIGNMENT: Please don't forget to go to the Class Notebook and submit your answers to the two questions. PITCHES: As you start to work on planning for your first three shows, talent and techie teams will be presenting a pitch a week, (hopefully 2 this week since we don't have any shows - except possibly HSPN). Check HSPN: Our sports teams have been very busy with Holiday Tournaments and meets. We need to put together a brief wrap up show outlining the results along with the schedule for this upcoming week. Please put together a script with a couple of placeholders for commercials. SHOW ELEMENTS: Producers & Directors, please include a brief discussion with your crews on what elements (not segments) should be required for a top notch broadcast. Refer to professional and quality student produced shows as examples. These could be items like: a bug, tag line, Iso's, OTS graphics, etc. We'll decide by Thursday what these shall be and the implementation schedule for them. RUNDOWN: for the semester will be posted on Class Notebooks Collaboration section by week's end. SKILLS DEVELOPMENT: I'll be posting various links/assignments to the Class Notebooks for various members of the crews. I understand how busy you should be to produce quality episodes, so I will keep these short and to the point to give you some practical skills that can help you get better - sooner. AVTF - 1 PER 2 & 3This week we'll be focusing on how we compose and frame our shots. We'll be using our smartphones for this exercise, since that is what use most often. Please share this blog post with your parents so they are aware that I will allow you to use your smartphone in class for this exercise. It is NOT mandatory that you have a smartphone. We'll work around it. We'll have a vocab quiz on the basic terms of framing and composition on Friday. Here's the link to Quizlet study guide: SHOT COMPOSITION We'll also be becoming more familiar with the various trade associations and their importance as well. We'll start with our own SkillsUSA. AVTF - 3 PER 4Our goal for this week will be to get with our "customers", determine the needs, and put together a proposal by Friday.
