iT'S GOING TO BE A GREAT WEEK!EVERYONEThis is going to be a short entry this week. Believe it or not, we're three weeks into the first marking period. This is your one and only "pass" to turn in missing assignments for full credit. They are due by Friday.
HOYAVISION - HSPN PER 1Blue Crew kicks off their broadcasts this week. HSPN goes into week 2, building on what they started! We will be working on our segment stand-ups this week. Please refer to the Stand Up assignment in Class Notebook for the project details. SPREADING THE WORD! Be sure to share the links to our show broadcasts and YouTube channel with your contacts to continue to build your audience. Monday's show link is: https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/events/harrison-high-school-kennesaw-ga/evt676fd7e972 Our YouTube Channel is: HoyaVision TV AVTF-2 PER 2This week we'll begin our project of pairing up and making an informational/instructional video about the various cables, connectors and delivery formats. Details are in the Class Notebook. Your pre-production storyboard and 2 column script will be due by Friday. AVTF-1 PER 3 & 4Now that we have the very basics of video production, we're going to dive a little deeper but from a film perspective. We'll be incorporating the lessons that I learned at the Georgia Film Academy to hopefully give you a better perspective of how movies are made. We'll be doing this throughout the semester.
In addition, we'll go into a deeper understanding of specific positions within the film and broadcast industry. This week, we start with: CINEMATOGRAPHER (or DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY on a movie production). Roll film!

last week in avtf......everyoneHoyaVision and HSPN begin live streaming this week! In addition to the live stream every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we will be uploading the shows to our YouTube Channel, HOYAVISION TV along with segments on our other social media links. Be sure to subscribe and share the link. Speaking HoyaVision, please ask your Advisement teacher to show it on IPTV - it's the little television icon on their laptops. Thanks! EXTRA-CREDIT LIVE STREAMING OPPORTUNITIES As my schedule allows, we will be doing more live-streaming of Harrison sporting events. It's a great opportunity to learn and develop your broadcast skills while watching our teams and adding some extra-credit to your grade! Games will be streamed via NFHS at https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/schools/harrison-high-school-kennesaw-ga It is a subscription service ($10/month or $60/year) with a portion of the proceeds coming back to our program. OPEN HOUSE: Is this Thursday. Please have your parents stop by to say hi! I would love to meet them in person and show off our amazing facility. HOYAVISION - HSPN PER 1This week, Green Crew and HSPN open up our broadcast season. Be sure to: 1. keep it simple, yet professional. (no t-shirts on-air) 2. REHEARSE OUT LOUD! Especially the scripts. YOU need to hear what it SOUNDS like - not just what it looks like on paper. 3. Be yourself. You were invited/recruited/"hired" for a reason - YOU!! Talk with your crewmates and your audience - not AT them. 4. Breathe. It will be OK. Don't forget to upload your segments to the GA Share drive by the day BEFORE the episode. That is how/where I'll grade them. If they are not there - it's a zero. This week your journal will be a little different - Green Crew and half of HSPN will do a show breakdown. Blue Crew and the other half of HSPN will do a revised Journal. Be sure to get these done by Friday. AVTF-2 PER 2This week we'll wrap up and review our :60 Second Silent films. We'll focus on: White balance Appropriate use of framing/shot composition Camera angles Story telling We will also learn some of the best keyboard shortcuts to use to become more efficient during the post-production phase. After the critique, we'll re-edit, using the shortcuts, with what we have to see if it can improve the project. Lastly we'll look at some basic color correcting and learn about the lumetri color correction panel. Our project will be to create some before/after shots (still frames) identifying what we adjusted to make those changes. AVTF-1 PER 3 & 4This week we'll continue to work on our camera knowledge and skills and learn the basics of Premiere Pro. We'll use our Scavenger Hunt footage to learn Premiere Pro and then we'll do another short camera exercise to practice again.
Keep working on your camera skills as you will be checked throughout the days to come. We will have a vocab quiz on Friday, 8/23/19 on Premiere Pro. Here's the Quizlet link to the studyguide: https://quizlet.com/66869038/premiere-pro-cc-basics-flash-cards/ Let's have a great week! EVERYONEThere are great life lessons all around us, no matter what you do. I overheard this from a Showcase team coach as he talked to his team: “Even though you’re in the dugout, be active in the game. Talk up your teammates, pick up the dugout, be at the fence. You have a choice to make – you can sit on the bench or be active. People notice these things. Being active will help your game.” Frank Fultz, former Atlanta Braves assistant coach. Be active in whatever you do. People notice. Make sure you have all “The Right Materials” for class every day. (Something to write with, write on, Class 10 SD card, headphones with 1/8” (3.5mm) connector. Just sayin’ HOYAVISION PER. 1This week we’ll finalize the rundowns of our first shows. Techies, I’ll be looking at all the b-roll you get – remember 20 different clips (10 seconds each) for every minute of the final segment length. Talent – we’ll be reviewing your interview questions – lots of “Tell me about….” “How did you…” “ What was that like?” Talent MUST be with Techie to edit the segment. AVTF-2 PER. 2We’ll be reviewing our Scavenger Hunt videos to see how we did with our new cameras. I'll be checking your camera knowledge and skills throughout the week. To continue working on our camera skills and start thinking about telling a story, we'll be doing a short project that will be due by end of class on Friday. avtf-1 per. 3 & 4This week we'll be looking at our PowerPoint projects from last week. Hope to get some inspiration from some of your amazing shots. We'll also be starting to work on our camera skills. We'll have a vocab quiz on Cameras & Tripods on Friday.
