Hello Everyone! I hope you were able to enjoy the awesome weekend weather. Our Community Service Day was a huge success! Thank you to all those who came out and gave of your time and effort to make our Harrison community better. I also want to thank Mrs. Mariela Romano from Univision 34 Atlanta for coming to visit us last Friday. I'm very proud to say that she was impressed with what you are doing. Thank you for your efforts. We are now in the final stretch of the school year. Please give it your all and finish your classes strong. Make sure you turn in everything on time and let your teachers know you want to understand the material better. NOW is the time to do that, not a week or two before the end of the semester.
HARRISON TODAY, HOYAVISION, HSPN Please make sure all the segments are assigned for the remainder of your shows. They should all be listed on the rundown. HSPN: ALL Anchors should be out getting interviews, at least one everyday the week of their show, for ALL the Spring teams: Baseball; Boys/Girls: LAX, Soccer, & Golf; Track & Field; Boys Volleyball. It will either be a wrap up or a status of the playoffs. This is separate from Feature talent, who will be producing a more in-depth segment about a single team or player. REMINDER: YOUR PORTFOLIO WEBSITES ARE DUE FRIDAY, MAY 13TH. If you haven't done so, already, please e-mail me the link to your site. Check the link in the right sidebar for the rubric. Start putting together your reel now - MINIMUM of 4 clips from this semester, of your best "stuff"! And finally, remember to EARN THE "A"! AVTF-1 We are continuing to work on our Broadcast Unit. How to switch a show We will continue to work on our Commercials, PSA's, Features and Interviews. Lastly we'll have our vocab quiz on Friday. Here's the link to the Quizlet of the words: BROADCAST UNIT VOCAB Lastly, I still need to hear a lot of your pitches for your Music Video. It's worth too much of your overall grade to not sit down for a few minutes to review it.

Hello everyone! 5 more weeks and counting. Let's continue to stay focused and finish strong. HARRISON TODAY - HOYAVISION - HSPN: Please remember for our episodes, we need: 1. Teaser for each segment. These are due on Monday of the week your crew's show is airing. This includes HSPN as well. 2. ISO's: Each weekly episode (Tuesday's show for HARRISON TODAY), will have a :30 sec segment from the desk given by one talent. It can be used to to set up a segment - offering some background info or as a separate segment by itself. Anchors, I would like for you to take the time to put some thought into this segment. 3. Feature Talent : Please take some time to research your segments - especially for HOW, and Community segments before you interview your subjects. Give your interviewee some background before asking the question and listen & ask appropriate follow up questions. 4. Technicians: Please pay attention to the details: Background, Lighting, Audio. Be sure to get a variety of shots of the same activity, holding each for 10 seconds. Guest Speaker: We will be hosting another guest speaker on Friday, Mariela Romero of Univision 34. Here's the link to her bio MARIELA ROMERO - please read it, summarize her responsibilities and provide a question or two you would ask of her. She'll be talking about her background, the responsibilities of a Broadcast Journalist and how she does her job. Lastly she'll be talking about the importance and value of being bilingual AVTF-1
We will continue to work on our Broadcast unit. This week we'll split into two teams, identify the Producer, Director, Talent and Technicians. We'll also start reviewing the vocabulary for this unit: STUDIO POSITIONS & TERMS The quiz will be NEXT WEEK Tuesday. Good Morning All! I hope you were able to enjoy the break and are rested and ready for the final stretch. We have a lot to do these final weeks, so let's get started: FALL 2016 HOYAVISION - HARRISON TODAY - HSPN APPLICANTS: We'll be wrapping up interviews for both technical and talent applicants. We'll also be starting the audition process for the talent. Please see the sidebar on the right for interview tips as well as what will be required for the Talent Audition Script. Here's a link to what your script should consist of: TALENT AUDITION SCRIPT HARRISON TODAY - HOYAVISION - HSPN: This week, we should be working on our upcoming broadcasts. Required elements for remaining shows will be: 1. Iso shot at the desk for all three crews (HoyaVision, HARRISON TODAY (Tuesday's show), HSPN). 2. Stand up "teaser" for EACH segment on upcoming show. Should be recorded by talent assigned to the segment. It should be very short (5-10 seconds). These videos are due by end of class on the Friday BEFORE the episode airs. It will be run as a short commercial on HARRISON TODAY. 3. Producer & Directors will be held to (graded on) the timing of the proposed shows based on the shared rundown. This adds to the realism and importance of planning/practicing as well as the communication during the recording of the live to tape or live streamed show. When not actively working on a segment (you should know all assignments for April), you should be working on your PROFESSIONAL portfolio website. The suggested section time frames are listed in the bar on the right. Several crew members still need to submit their Conversation Interview Segment. It may still be submitted, however the maximum grade would be an 80 - if done perfectly. Anything is still better than a zero. Projects must be submitted to me via SchoolTube or via flash drive for me to copy to my hard drive. Here's the link to the project outline: _CONVERSATION SEGMENT OUTLINE AVTF-1
