HOW TO EMBED YOUR REEL INTO YOUR PORTFOLIO WEBSITEFINAL PROJECT SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
As we wrap up our final video projects in AVTF - 1 and 2, we'll need to upload them to the GA Share drop box.
Please make sure we name the videos properly: (period) - FILastName - (project name) . (ie: 5-Bphelps-MusicVideo.mp4) Here's a link to a video showing how we'll need to access the GA Share Dropbox to submit your video: GA SHARE DROPBOX INSTRUCTIONS WELCOME BACK!
I hope everyone had as enjoyable a holiday week as I did. We were able to spend a lot of quality time with the grandkids on Thanksgiving.
It's going to be a great week: Buffalo won! Falcons won! and the Patriots won (thank you!)
EVERYONE
One of my "Video, Teacher Heros", Don Goble, shares a daily paper with all sorts of great articles about teaching, technology, and video production. It took me awhile to figure out how he did it and now I'm happy to share "my" own daily paper with tips, tricks and video business basics: "VIDEO PRODUCTION DAILY!" I've placed the link to the paper in my RESOURCES page. Check it daily as the articles change every day. I hope you can get something from it.
We're heading towards the final turn of the semester and our final projects are coming due. Everyone has their PORTFOLIO WEBSITE due on 12/8/17. It's VERY IMPORTANT that you list the link to your website on the following form, even if you shared it in previous semesters.
If this form is not completed by 12/8/17, your grade for this SUMMATIVE PROJECT will be a 0. As a reminder, it is weighted at 35% of your overall grade. PLEASE don't wait any longer. Set up your website, publish it, complete the form, and then go back and edit your site.

EVERYONEIt's hard to believe, but the semester's end is in sight. Next week is Thanksgiving Break, the following week FINAL PROJECTS for AVTF 1 & 2 are due, and the PORTFOLIO WEBSITES for everyone are due on Friday, December 8th. Please be sure to manage your time in class efficiently and get as much done in class as possible. Please pay attention to the details and only let your name be associated with your very best. BROADCAST - JOURNALISM CLUB
HARRISON TODAY - HSPN - HOYAVISIONCongratulations to Blue Crew for raising the bar with their HARRISON TODAY and HoyaVision episodes this past week. The ISO's and over-the-shoulder graphics and conversational style at the desk were awesome! The segments were very good as well. This is now the bar that will need to be met ...and then exceeded. The rundowns need to be posted for ALL crews for the remainder of the semester. Everyone should be aware of their remaining assignments and be working towards producing amazing segments. "Earn the A". Lastly, PLEASE DO THE BASICS that are due EVERY WEEK: your JOURNAL, and, when your segment is aired, complete the SEGMENT BREAKDOWN by the next school day. Please be honest with yourselves on this breakdown. AVTF-1This week we'll be reviewing and looking to select up to 4, award worthy entries, for our CCSME contest. We'll be using the same judges form to make our selection(s). Tuesday begins our final unit: BROADCAST! This is going to be awesome. It's truly a team sport and will require all hands on deck and on the same page to produce a quality broadcast. We'll begin by learning about the positions, some of the key gear and environment. By Friday, we'll have our crews and initial positions selected. We'll have a vocab quiz on these items. Here's a link to the BROADCAST POSITIONS-GEAR QUIZLET AVTF-2We'll be following a similar schedule as AVTF-1: Reviewing entries, and beginning the Broadcast Unit. We'll be diving a bit deeper into the gear and introducing some additional requirements for the segments and broadcast. To bring us back up to speed from AVTF-1 and introduce new terms/concepts, we'll be having a vocab quiz on Friday. Here's the link to the STUDIO VOCAB AVTF-3While we will be participating in the class Broadcast Teams, our main focus will be on preparing for the End Of Pathway Assessment. Please refer to the right sidebar for the blueprint and study guides and resources.
WRITE, SHOOT, EDIT, & SHARE!
Level 1 & 2 students are taking part in the annual Cobb County Short Movie Extravaganza (CCSME) this week. All Cobb County High Schools' AVTF programs are competing in both the Novice (current AVTF-1 only) and Advanced categories.
The competition is based on the popular 48 Hour Film Fest, but are given 9 days to produce their film. Prompts were released this past Wednesday and are due by Friday, 11/10/17. Students are given 3 prompts that MUST be used in their film: Name: Avery Cooper. Prop: A bracelet. Line: "Anything can happen, if you let it." The students formed production teams and selected a genre from: Comedy, Suspense, Drama, Action and will create an up to 5 minute short film. Entries will be reviewed and the top 4 will be submitted to compete against the other schools. The "Oscar-like" awards ceremony will be held on December 4th or 5th at Sprayberry. Details should be finalized on Tuesday. BROADCAST JOURNALISM CLUB
We're open to anyone and everyone who wants to tell the positive stories happening all around us - in "print" (online) and with video segments. We are looking to help develop your news and feature reporting skills and provide opportunities to submit your work for publishing outside of the classroom to boost your portfolio.
We are currently looking for contributors willing to regularly review/promote rising music artists through Moxie (@GoMoxie). All necessary materials are provided (i.e. bio's, music video, audio, press releases, etc.) and occasional free concert tickets for contributors. We would need to write/produce piece and share with Moxie in a timely fashion. If you are interested, please see me. I'd like to have something prepared for Veterans Day, which is next Monday. The Veterans and their families deserve our appreciation. I would like to have at least an article and video segment prepared for Monday release. If you are interested in doing a story this week, please see me. We meet on Thursday mornings in the Media Bldg from 7:40 - 8:10. We hope to see you there! EVERYONE
We're all in the final stretch. PLEASE make sure we manage our time and do something everyday on our final projects. EVERYONE has a PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO WEBSITE to complete.
