Hello everyone! It's amazing weekend and going to be an amazing week! To begin, my wife and I became Grandparents again with the arrival of our newest grandson, Chandler Jackson Phelps, to our son RJ and his wife Katie. Chandler arrived at 8lbs 1oz, 21.5" tall. We're thinking a linebacker with huge hands that will be a threat to cover over the middle receivers. Look for him in the 2039 Bills Draft Picks. FALL 2016 HOYAVISION - HARRISON TODAY - HSPN APPLICANTS We will begin to interview applicants for both Talent and Technical members. Please check the e-mail you provided on your application and reply back with your preferred interview times. Please provide a few options should we book up. Please plan on having the interview video recorded. Not all Producers/Directors may be present at your interview and it's important for them to see/hear your responses to help them make an informed decision. Here's a link to a brief interview preparation guide. Please come prepared. HOYAVISION - HARRISON TODAY INTERVIEW PREPARATION HOYAVISION - HARRISON TODAY - HSPN This week, we should be working on our upcoming broadcasts. Required elements for remaining shows will be: 1. Iso shot at the desk for all three crews (HoyaVision, HARRISON TODAY, HSPN). 2. Stand up "teaser" for EACH segment on upcoming show. Should be recorded by talent assigned to the segment. It should be very short (5-10 seconds). These videos are due by end of class on the Friday BEFORE the episode airs. It will be run as a short commercial on HARRISON TODAY. 3. Producer & Directors will be held to (graded on) the timing of the proposed shows based on the shared rundown. This adds to the realism and importance of planning/practicing as well as the communication during the recording of the live to tape or live streamed show. When not actively working on a segment (you should know all assignments for April), you should be working on your PROFESSIONAL portfolio website. The suggested section time frames are listed in the bar on the right. AVTF-1 We are wrapping our Short Movie Competition this week. Here are the rules: SHORT MOVIE COMPETITION RULES And here is the judging form, so you know what the judges will be looking at. 2016 CCSME JUDGING FORM The submissions will be graded by me as a quiz, so attention to detail, storytelling and efficient teamwork are essential. When not working on the short film, you should be finalizing your Music Video Pre-Production elements: Storyboard, Shot List, organized by location (i.e. HOUSE - shots 1-7, 14, 26 - 29 with the numbers refer to the numbered panels on your storyboard; and the proposal. Everyone will need to give a 5-10 minute pitch presenting their storyboard and proposal. Please see the links to the rubric and Music Video pre-production elements in the side bar to the right. AVTF-3
It's CRUNCH time for us. We MUST finish the 25th Anniversary filming this week. In addition, we'll be working on the Senior Video. We'll need to be aggressively going after photos and starting the project. There's not a lot of time. In addition, we need to prepare for End Of Pathway Assessment, which will take place the last week of April. Please start to review the study guide in the sidebar to the right. Lastly, we need to update our professional portfolio website. Elements and proposed dates for each are on the link in the sidebar on the right.

Please export using H.264, save using "First Initial Lastname"-Short Poem.mp4 and upload to SchoolTube.com. We also need to make a concerted effort on our final project pre-production. By now I should have your lyrics, with a very brief description of the story (it MUST tell a story). By Tuesday end of class, you should turn in a full (front & back) page storyboard for your music video. That would represent about half of what will be expected for your project. Please remember
Also this week, we'll review TRANSITIONS and their role in helping to tell your story. HOW you go from one shot to the next actually means something to your audience. AVTF-1 SPRING SHORT FILM CONTEST: We will be holding our own version of the CCSME which is held in the Fall. You'll split up into teams of no more than 10 and create a short, no more than 5 minute, movie. Rules and required elements will be issued on Wednesday and ALL entries will be due on Friday, April 1. The link to the rubric is also in the sidebar on the right. HARRISON TODAY / HOYAVISION / HSPN: We will be wrapping up interviews for Producers & Directors for the crews. Decisions on the format (1 crew vs 2 crews), will be made based on the quality of Producers & Directors applying as well as the number of applicants for the crews. Applications are located in the Hole In The Wall and in the Media Bldg. Job descriptions and talent audition requirements can be found in the sidebar.
