SPRAYBERRY FILM FESTIVALSprayberry High School is sponsoring their first ever Spring Film Festival! It starts Friday, 3/30/18 and ends Friday 4/13/18. The rules are very similar to the Fall CCSME Contest. GO TO WWW.SPRAYBERRYFILMFESTIVAL.COM FOR RULES AND DETAILS. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE STORYThere are stories all around us - every student, teacher, athlete, and yes...team chaplain. Our videos can be powerful tools to tell those stories. How will you tell the stories around you? Congrats to Sister Jean and Loyola Chicago for moving on to the Final 4. I also want to congratulate Coach John Beilein of the Michigan Wolverines as well. He hired me when I was a student at Erie Community College and he was just beginning his college coaching career there. Class act! Finally, congratulations to the UB Women's Basketball Team for making it to the Sweet 16 round. #UBHornsUP! My bracket is now officially and completely busted. EVERYONEIt's the last week before Spring Break. Please focus, manage your time, and associate your name with your very best this week. Don't forget: 1. Weekly Journals - be sure to do them and treat them seriously. It's our (yours and mine) weekly "film breakdown" of your week. 2. Keep working on your Professional Portfolio Website. Elements are posted in the right column of this blog and towards the bottom. If you have questions, are confused, please see me. This is a summative assessment, weighted at 35% of your final grade. BROADCAST- JOURNALISM CLUBWe've established our own site for HOYA HEADLINE NEWS. Please check it out: https://hoyaheadlinenews.wordpress.com/ We need more current stories - on a regular basis to develop a following. We have some professionals who are willing to review and provide beneficial feedback once they see regular postings. That tells them we're committed. EVERYONEI hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.....and your bracket is still somewhat intact. The Women's UB Bulls are still surprising everyone moving on to round 2. #UBHORNSUP!! PORTFOLIO WEBSITE: Please continue working on your website. In addition to the different sections, start working on your reel - examples of your best work. HARRISON TODAY - HSPN - HOYAVISIONCongratulations to last week's crews for much smoother shows. Your planning, starting preparations earlier and taking it seriously has resulted in much improved shows. Students and teachers alike complimented you on the improvement. Let's keep it going. AVTF-1 PER 2 & 3Good job staying focused on all that needed to be done last week with our lighting unit. Now that we have been introduced to the power and need to control lighting to produce good videos, I will be looking for your attention to lighting in your projects. This week, we'll be very busy again. We'll be covering the following: 1. Introduction to audio 2. Audio Vocab quiz on Friday 3. Introducing the elements of a proposal for your Music Video project 4. Continue to work on the storyboard for your Music Video project Here's the link to the Audio Quizlet study guide for Friday's vocab quiz: AUDIO VOCAB QUIZ Information on the proposal elements for your Music Video are located here: MUSIC VIDEO PROPOSAL ELEMENTS AVTF-3Last week we had some additional projects provided to us and we've rescheduled those impacted. So, we're either working on our 2 - 4 minute beneficiary video - which I would like to have the preliminary version by this Friday and the final version by next week.
We'll also be spending some time at the beginning of each class reviewing for the End of Pathway Assessment which will be administered in April. CONGRATULATIONS LADY HOYAS ON THE RESPECTABLE SHOWING IN STATES!EVERYONEWe're about 1/2 way through the 2nd progress period. Please be sure to check with your teachers to make sure you're on track. For our class: please stay on top of your weekly assignments: Weekly Journal for everyone, and Weekly Pitch/Reply. Please treat these seriously - if you expect a serious grade. I should have the link to your current portfolio website on the form. If not, please be sure to get it in ASAP. This is a graded assignment and was due last Friday. The link is located in the Class Notebook under the Content-Portfolio Website tab. The responses from the form create a single spreadsheet listing everyone's name, period and website address. This is where I will go to grade your Professional Portfolio Website. On the website, one of the key items will be the REEL. This is a compilation of your best video work: filming, editing, storytelling, along directing, technical directing for the broadcast class. Please make a concerted effort to make each project, segment, and broadcast worthy of your reel. HARRISON TODAY - HSPN - HOYAVISIONCongrats to Mia and Julia and Madison for submitting entries to the NATAS-SE Student Production Awards. We'll continue to keep you posted on the status. The winners will be announced at the NATAS-SE SPA Awards in early June. Good Luck! We are in the process of scheduling a guest speaker to work with us on our interviewing skills and work with our talent for HARRISON TODAY show. Ms. Donna Davis is planning on visiting on Monday, 3/26/18 to work with us. She will be viewing our most recent shows before visiting, so please make sure your name is associated with your very best.
