HOYAVISION - HSPNThis week, Blue Crew will be broadcasting. HSPN will continue to follow up on their teams. We need to start working on our Spring Sports wrap-up and ancillary Harrison Sports stories. We all need to start working on our best work of the semester for our reels. AVTF-2This week we will continue to work on our broadcast. We will start with tips on how to find a story and develop a strong pitch. I would like to target to have our story research done by Friday, pitches to be done early next week. Additionally, we need to make use of our down time to work on our mini-documentaries and updating our Portfolio Websites. AVTF-1Congrats to both AVTF-1 broadcast teams for completing the House of Cards exercise. That's a first since 2011! Great teamwork and communication. This week we'll be learning about where we can find a story and how to tell it. We'll begin with how to find a story, research it, and then pitch it. We'll learn more about this from a storytelling pro - Ms. Kris Burnett, on Wednesday. We'll also go over resumes we can create for our Portfolio Websites. Our downtime should be spent working on our Music Videos and Portfolio website AVTF-3This week we'll continue working on preparing for our NOCTI EOPA and final projects.
EVERYONEHello! This week's entry will be brief. Not only are we watching the severe weather on this Sunday, I'm also "on call" should my daughter-in-law go into labor. Game times are at 5:30 & 7:30. I need help with set-up, camera work, switching, and take down. 10 XC QUIZ POINTS PER GAME (must include a set up or takedown). I'll cover admission and a meal at the concession stand. THURSDAY 4/18/19: 3 camera live stream of the Boys Volleyball match. Game time is at 6:00, best of 5 matches. I need help with set-up, camera work, switching, and take down. 10 XC QUIZ POINTS. I'll cover admission and a meal. FINAL PROJECTS - ALL DUE ON MAY 3RD - 3 WEEKS AWAYJust a reminder - all final projects are due by the end of day on Friday, May 3rd. Here's what's due: Everyone: PORTFOLIO WEBSITE - Requirements can be found at this link: PORTFOLIO WEBSITE REQUIREMENTS AVTF-1: 2-4 Minute Music Video AVTF-2: 5-7 Minute Mini-Documentary AVTF-3: 4 - 7 Minute project (Music Video, Mini-documentary/Feature, Short Film) Please take advantage of every free moment you have in class to do something on your final projects. They are weighted at 35% of your overall grade. If you have questions, PLEASE ASK!! I WANT you to get a good grade. HOYAVISION - HSPNWe're in the final few broadcasts and I really want to finish strong. Please be sure to: 1. Tell the stories of Harrison High School and our community. We are storytellers - - When developing your pitches - 2 more to do - follow the outline and do the research BEFORE writing & pitching your story. - Have a character - make it about SOMEONE. If it's an event, share a person's perspective of the event. - WE tell the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, and WHERE of a story - the interviews and b-roll tell us the WHY. - All segments should have a: BEGINNING: Hook us with action b-roll of the topic of the story while you introduce the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE (tell us what you're going to tell us about) MIDDLE: Interviews with b-roll that tell the different perspectives. At least 2 interviews - different perspectives (different people) (Tell us) END: Wrap it up re-state your focus statement - what you wanted us to get from your segment and, if appropriate, what we can do next. (Tell us what you just told us) 2. Write your scripts for the segments or desk CONVERSATIONALLY. Talk with your co-anchor and your audience - not lecture them. You aren't doing hard news. 3. Have enough b-roll - 20 separate, distinct clips per finished minute of the segment. 4. Record NAT sounds - especially for sports. 5. Help your anchors out with a good lede - 2 sentence interesting description (may be your focus statement) of your segment. Get your anchors excited to share your story. SPORTS: FILL OUT YOUR SPORTS RECAP SPREADSHEET FOR YOUR TEAMS. This needs to be updated the day after a game/match/meet and set up for the following week by WEDNESDAY. EVERYONE: REMINDER: We are a VISUAL medium, not just an audio medium. We should have, in order of preference: 1. Video that shows the event with NAT sounds 2. Graphic with bulleted items being reviewed - few words. 3. Crawl with info (schedules, scores, etc.) AVTF-2On Monday we'll review and critique the AVTF Promo Videos as a class - both from a technical point of view, as well as functional - will the video help get more students to sign up for the AVTF pathway. The remainder of the week we'll create our broadcast crews, go over the show requirements and review the control room and studio gear. We'll also review the vocabulary for the unit. AVTF-1We'll watch another video of a live broadcast - but one where the show is scripted - more like you will be doing. We've talked about the Producer and Director and we'll review the other positions and look at how/where they fit in in the broadcast. We'll select our two Producers and two Directors and create our crews. We'll also review some of the basic vocabulary of the unit. We'll have a couple of vocab quizzes in this unit to break it up a little. Here's the link to the first Broadcast Positions and Terms vocabulary: BROADCAST POSITIONS AND TERMS AVTF-3This week, we'll be focusing on preparing for the NOCTI EOPA. Other teachers who have administered the test have reported the best results when the students have used both the NOCTI Studyguide and Quizlet. To that end, I'd like for you to at least one pass each class period of each study guide - Quizlet and NOCTI. Based on the Competency Needs from the NOCTI and problem terms in the Quizlet, I'll present one or two items each day.
