EVERYONE - (ESPECIALLY SENIORS)FINALS! I can't believe how fast this semester has flown by and we're talking about Final Exams already. It's particularly hitting me hard for the seniors in my classes. You're moving on and won't be in my classes after this. Heavy sigh. That said, we need to finish strong. Here are the links to the Study Guides: AVTF-1 FINAL STUDY GUIDE AVTF-3 FINAL STUDY GUIDE HARRISON TODAY - HSPN - HOYAVISION FINAL STUDY GUIDE We'll be reviewing these during class this week and again before the Final Exam itself. Please take a moment to review the guide for your class. MERCER UNIVERSITY DIGITAL MEDIA SUMMER CAMP OPPORTUNITYCENTER FOR COLLABORATIVE JOURNALISM SUMMER CAMP Each summer, top high school students from some of the top journalism, yearbook and media programs from around the United States travel to Mercer University to learn the latest tools for digital storytelling from “one of the nation’s boldest journalism experiments” (The New York Times). Working with CCJ's univeristy faculty, journalists in residents and partner journalists, you will:
In eight days, campers learn or improve their knowledge of, and skills in, DSLR cameras, Premiere, Photoshop, Audition, writing for the web and more. They interview real people to tell their story in a compelling multimedia format and publish the results. There are full scholarships available to attend the camp. Check the link above for more information. HARRISON TODAY - HSPN - HOYAVISIONWe're at our last broadcasts of the school year. Please associate your name with your very best. You have told some amazing stories and have put some smiles on your audience's faces this semester. You should be proud of that. Let's end with class and leave them wanting more. HARRISON TODAY - Mon 9:57 - 10:06 HSPN - Tues 9:55 - 10:06 - to accommodate the final team wrap-ups. HoyaVision - Fri 9:57 - 10:08 We'll also be unplugging, and dismantling our control room and studio (NOT the set). We'll need to label everything and organize it so we can put it back together in the Fall. In addition, we will be going through ALL the gear, testing, labeling, sorting and packing. I would also like to ask that we make a "farewell to the Media Building" video this week - especially for those seniors who've spent a lot of time here. I can edit later. I'd also like to create a "grand opening" video for the new studio and space. If anyone would like to help, please let me know. AVTF-1 PER 2 & 3This week we'll be wrapping up our Broadcast Unit. I think we'll move the broadcast dates to Wednesday and Thursday so we can practice more. Let's make it outstanding! AVTF-3 PER 4This week we'll be wrapping up our final videos. We'll also assist with the sorting, labelling, and packing gear & materials for the move. Thanks in advance for your help.

This past week....this happenedThis past week we had the opportunity to work with and learn from some pros in our field.
EVERYONEPLEASE RETURN ALL GEAR, CASES, BATTERIES, ACCESSORIES ASAPNow that all final projects are in - we need to focus on finishing strong - earn the A (it's easy) - and make sure the impression you leave is of your very best efforts. Over the next couple of weeks, we'll be wrapping our final segments and broadcasts. Remember, these segments CAN be considered for the 2019 NATAS-SE Student Production Awards. We'll also be packing up and getting ready for our move into the main building next semester. Thank you in advance for your assistance. HARRISON TODAY - HSPN - HOYAVISIONWe only have two more weeks of broadcasts left. Please make sure it represents your very best. No need for additional pitches, just the journal - it should be an honest, course-position appropriate reflection of what you've accomplished each week. REMINDER - We typically produce a semester/year wrap up segment/show - no one has applied for Master or Synchronization licenses for any published songs - so please DO NOT USE ANY PUBLISHED MUSIC in your segments or shows. That is not allowed by law. Please provide credits/links to all music used. THIS IS A REQUIREMENT FOR THE REMAINING SHOWS. AVTF-1 PER 2 & 3With our final projects done and in the books, we will pick up with our Broadcast unit. Everyone should be assigned a segment to work on. We also need to start working on our scripts and training on the technical gear for the broadcast. The shows will be recorded (2 practice runs and 1 final run for grade) next Tuesday and Wednesday (5/15 & 5/16). AVTF-3 PER 4Those who need to re-take the EOPA, you need to bring a check for $22, made out to Harrison High School directly to Mr. O'Neill. The re-take will be scheduled for next week.
We are working on our final video that will be graded on professionalism - daily productivity in class on your video and quality of video. Must be school appropriate and of superior production (filming) and post-production (editing) for the A. Let's finish strong. |
