NEW LOOK!Huge thanks to our Advisory Committee member, Ian Feinberg and Chattahoochee Tech's Gordy Ave campus for loaning us this set. It was the former set for the Fox 5 sports show, Play to Win While we have some additional set up (DMX lighting and monitor connections and feeds, etc.), the broadcast class and I have learned a TON about set construction. There is definitely a sense of well deserved pride in this set and they look forward to delivering shows worthy of this professional look. Be sure to watch as we begin our broadcasts for the semester this week at http://www.esenetworks.com/live-events.aspx?id=13452 MONDAYS: HARRISON TODAY - News in and around Harrison High School TUESDAYS: HSPN - All things Harrison Sports FRIDAYS: HoyaVisoin - Weekly magazine style show celebrating Harrison HS and our community. All shows run from 9:58 - 10:06 AM ALLAs we head into week 3 of the semester, please be sure to work on your time management skills. There are assignments for each class listed in the Class Notebook, under the Content Section - and Week Ending page. Please be sure to look at that daily and work on it every day in class. DON'T PROCRASTINATE and wait until Thursday or Friday to start! Earn the A! PLEASE BE SURE TO LABEL YOUR SD CARDS AND TO TAKE THEM WITH YOU AT THE END OF THE CLASS! We're already missing several - and they haven't been labelled. These are YOUR cards. SOLAR ECLIPSE: Just like the human eye, the direct rays of the sun can harm the sensor of your camera as well. If you intend to record the eclipse, here is an article that offers some great suggestions on how to film the event without harming your eyes or camera: http://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-take-the-best-photos-of-a-solar-eclipse-tips-from-the-pros/ HARRISON TODAY - HSPN - HOYAVISIONLet the shows begin! Best of luck to Blue Crew and HSPN as they open the Fall 2017 Semester this week. The schedule of shows is listed above. Thank you to all the crews for your assistance in assembling the set. We still have some more to go, but believe we can go with what we have and produce a quality show. ALL TALENT: Be sure to write your script in conversational style - as you would speak it (not like you were writing an essay). BE SURE TO READ YOUR SCRIPT OUT LOUD as you write it so you know how it sounds. Scripts should be written: 1. In Word (check for spelling and grammar - that means something when you read it!) 2. ALL CAPS! It makes it easier to upload to the teleprompter and easier for you to read. 3. Place a line space between each speaker and commercial, segment, etc. This will help prevent reading someone else's lines. 4. List the initials of who will be speaking the line for every line. ALL TECHIES: ALL HANDS ON DECK the day of the show to set up and to strike the set for rehearsals and day of the show. 1. ALL CREW for the show: please practice your positions BEFORE show time. Directors, it's your responsibility to make sure this happens. 2. Please make sure you check audio, jump cuts, lower thirds and credits for all your segments. 3. Directors, please make sure you have scrolling credits for everyone in your crew, to run at the end of the show. 4. Directors & Floor Directors - please make sure the set is completely struck (all lights off, mics put away, cameras shut down, etc.) at the end of every rehearsal and show. PRODUCERS AND DIRECTORS AND CREWS: Now that we have the beginnings of a working video library of Harrison HS related video clips for B-roll, we now must do the same for audio. Main Street during class changes, lunch room, Media Center, Classroom sounds, all sporting events, indoor & out. Need to have at least :30 seconds of each audio clip. AVTF-1Last week we learned the technical aspects of our Canon Vixia cameras and how to use tripods effectively. I'll be reviewing the clips with the class this week, looking at: White balancing Steady shots, Framing Following the directions of each scavenger hunt item. ALLThe sun has set on the first week of the 2017-2018 School Year! I am truly excited for this semester. All my classes are awesome. I can't wait to get things going. THIS WEEK EVERYONE will need to have our own Class 10 SD card. 8 GB will suffice, but you may want a 16 GB card to make sure you have enough room. The Hole In The Wall has them in stock AND at a great price. PLEASE - I beg you, DO NOT buy them from a Walgreens, Rite-Aid, CVS or similar, non-computer store. They will double even quadruple the price. HOYAVISION - HARRISON TODAY - HSPNWe are going full-steam ahead preparing for our first shows. HARRISON TODAY will kick things off NEXT Monday - 8/14/17. In addition to knowing the Rule of Thirds and these basic compositions, knowing how they will help tell your story is also important. We will have an article review that discusses these points as well. There will be a video scavenger hunt that will be due by Friday There will be a vocab quiz on Friday. Here's the link: CAMERA & TRIPOD VOCAB For your Scavenger Hunt project, here's the link to the video about transferring the video files from the SD card to your project folder on the external drive: TRANSFERING VIDEO FILES TO THE EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE AVTF-2This week we'll be getting to know the Canon XA-10's and re-acquainting ourselves with Premiere.
