HAPPY LABOR DAY!
I hope everyone is able to enjoy the long weekend with family and friends with near perfect weather! I was able to do what I enjoy - film sports and spend time with the grandkids.
EVERYONE
The 6 week progress report is around the corner. PLEASE make sure you're on top of your assignments and do the best you can. Remember my 5 'R's' - especially the last - RESPECT yourself.
GEAR CARE
With the studio and control room upgrade, we NEED to take care of the gear we have. We need to sign gear out properly, put it back properly - including charging the batteries or plugging the cameras in (depending on the cameras. We also need to put our sound gear - cables and mics - back properly as well, so we're not wrestling with it on site.
To that end, we will be implementing a new system. Every time you need to leave the room - for an interview, go to the restroom, drink of water, etc., you will be required to wrap a 25' audio cable properly. That's how you'll get your pass. We will focus on learning the skill on Tuesday when we return. If you want to get a headstart, here's a video that does a good job of teaching the skill: NEW CLUB!
Harrison student, Rebecca Wildes has organized a new club that will interest many of you, the Motion Graphics Club! We'll start with some After Effects basics and build from there. Hope to see you there.
BROADCAST JOURNALISM CLUB - HOYA HEADLINE NEWS
Have a news story about your class, team, club? Harrison student accomplishment that should be celebrated or story told? Join us before school on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month to submit the stories written and video for publishing on our online news page:
https://hoyaheadlinenews.wordpress.com We are a member of the Scholastic Press Association - UGA Chapter and will be planning a trip to UGA SPA day on October 22nd. HARRISON TODAY - HSPN - HOYAVISION
Slowly but surely, our studio is coming together. We'll continue to work on our story telling and anchoring to match the level of gear we're working with.
All stories for this week and going forward will use the checklist to ensure we have all the elements of a good segment. I'll continue to look for resources to help with the writing for broadcast. This week is a short week, HSPN will broadcast on Tuesday. Green Crew HARRISON TODAY will record and post their show on Wednesday and Green Crew HoyaVision will broadcast on Friday. AVTF-2 PER 2
This week we are finishing our Cables and Connectors videos. Please be sure to review the guidelines and what cables and connectors are to be covered. Also be sure to show how and where they are used so the viewer will better understand what you're talking about.
The videos are due by end of class on Friday - September 7th, on the GA SHARE drive Dropbox folder. Please label the finished product: 2-FILASTNAME-CABLES-CONNECTORS. List your partner in the final credits. AVTF-1 PER 3 & 4
This week we'll be wrapping up our Premiere Pro Basics by finishing the titles, fade in / fade outs, exporting and posting to GA SHARE.
We'll also learn how to wrap cables properly - you'll need this to get a pass :-) In anticipation of having access to the classroom computers available for editing, we'll be re-doing our "6 Word-6 Shot" story, except it will be in video form. You can choose the same 6 Words you did earlier this semester or choose 6 new words. Here's the link to the assignment: SIX WORD - SIX SHOT VIDEO ASSIGNMENT
