ECLIPSEWe have an awesome event that will take place on Monday afternoon. There have been a number of HHS PTSA Blasts regarding the schedule change, permission slips, etc. The following letter is also posted on our school website, www.harrisonhigh.org: Dear Parents: The Cobb County School District has provided safety guidelines to schools for your child to view the solar eclipse with their classmates on August 21, 2017. Along with a delayed release at 4:15 pm for high school students, the regular bell schedule will be altered to begin 4th period at 1:30 pm to facilitate minimum day students leaving campus and student checkouts before the eclipse is readily visible. Please schedule all student checkouts on August 21, 2017, for no later than 1:30 pm. Absences/checkouts on Monday, August 21, 2017 will be excused and will not count against exam exemptions. Parents must be aware of the absence and/or early checkout. Please check your student’s 4th period teacher blog to know if your student’s class is viewing the eclipse outside or in the classroom with the live streaming on IPTV. If your student is going with his or her 4th period class outside to view the solar eclipse, your student must have returned the parent permission form from the 4th period teacher and purchase his or her own pair of approved solar eclipse glasses. Harrison High School is not providing solar eclipse glasses for students, but we are providing live streaming of the solar eclipse in all classrooms via IPTV. For more information regarding the solar eclipse, please visit the National Weather Service at http://www.weather.gov/sgf/SolarEclipse. My plans for the eclipse are to watch it from the safety of our classroom as it is projected live via our IPTV channel. I will be using one of my own cameras with my personal pair of ISO rated eclipse glasses attached as a filter on the lens to record the event. Those students who have and use their own ISO rated eclipse glasses and signed permission slips will be allowed to watch, right outside my building. ALLWe are now half-way through the first 6 week grading period. Please be sure to use your time in class wisely to complete the assignments. Remember the policy on late work listed in the course syllabus - posted in the right column of my blog. Earn the A. In addition to having a Class 10 SD Card for use with the cameras, EVERYONE will also need their own earbuds/headphones that can plug into the 1/8th connector of a camera and on our iMacs. Please be sure to bring and use them. We will be using video tutorials from Adobe to learn and train on the Production Premium products, so you will need to have your earbuds to go along at your own pace.
