EVERYONE
Hello and welcome to the last week of April! Just a few weeks left to go. I hope this finds you, your family and friends well. Please continue to be smart about what you're doing. As things start to open up, it's not over yet. I know it's hard, but we can get through this.
GRADING: I'm almost through everyone's Class Notebook, and will start grading the final projects that are submitted this weekend. While many of you have indicated that you are satisfied with what you have, since you can only go up from March 13th's grade, if you would like to bump it up a bit, please feel free to complete anything from March 13th forward. Lot's of easy A's to be had.
FINAL PROJECTS: These are weighted at 35% and can give you the most bang for your efforts. Since you can't go below March 13th's grade, it may be a good way to bump you up considerably. Everyone has the Portfolio Website, AVTF-1 has a Music Video, and AVTF-2 has the Mini-Documentary. It may help pass the time, and boost your grade as well!
If you are submitting something for a final project, please complete the form here so I know to look for it
FINAL EXAMS: This is weighted at 15% and will be administered online via FORMS. I'm thinking of either a 25 question test or a 50 question test of basic simple things. This may be another easy way to boost your grade, especially since it can't take you below the March 13th grade. I plan on posting the exams up for everyone by when the seniors are done and give a couple of days to complete it. I'll have more details in the coming week or two.
excellent online training opportunities
Last week I stumbled across a very easy to understand tutorial on Instagram from Valentina Vee. She's an Adobe Master Trainer, Director of Photography (DP) in LA, and also works with Aputure, a lighting company. With Adobe Care, she is presenting a weekly Tuesday Tips session at 2pm EST on YouTube. Last week's session was how to edit quicker in Premiere Pro. While I knew some of the shortcuts, there were a bunch more that will definitely help going forward.
This week's tutorial will be "Vlogging Made Easy with co-host Shameless Maya" On Thursday, she also had a behind the scenes training on how light a product shoot. Awesome in-depth look at how and why they do what they do for commercials and other shoots. REAL-TIME, INTERACTIVE SESSIONS
I'm also working on providing some live ZOOM sessions for everyone in my program. First up:
BROADCAST: AVTF-1 is starting this unit and since we don't have access to our studio and control room, I'm working with NEWSY 's Chicago studios to give us a live look at their control room and studio and some background about what happens behind the scenes. Based on their schedules, it will be held at 4pm and we're locking down a day, probably Thursday, to have this. I'll send out an e-mail and REMIND for anyone interested. FILM: I'm working with the Georgia Film Academy to host a ZOOM session about their program and what they have to offer. Last week, I sent a link to a form to get some options on when would be best for everyone interested. Thank you for your responses and I'll be following up with the date and time once confirmed. If you have any tutorials or live sessions that pertain to film, broadcast, editing, or photography, please share! HOYAVISION-HSPN
I've posted all the stories that were turned in. Thank you! We have had some people looking for more current stories, so if you are interested, please let me know and we'll look to get it published.
I've scheduled our ZOOM sessions for the remaining Mondays - EXCEPT FOR NEXT MONDAY - I'll be at school helping with the Senior Cap, Gown, & Yearbook distribution. I'll look to get videos and some interviews there as well, if anyone wants to do an article/segment about it. Just let me know and we'll coordinate it. AVTF-2
Our ZOOM session is scheduled for Tuesday morning. We'll be catching up and going over how the final projects and final exams will work for us. Please check your e-mail and Remind for the invitation.
As we work through the video projects, it would be really cool if you were able to check out the Adobe Care YouTube live sessions on Tuesdays. AVTF-1
Our ZOOM session is scheduled for Wednesday morning. I'll spend some of that to go over the Broadcast Unit. I'd like to have the BROADCAST POSITIONS & TERMS vocab on Thursday. Here's the link to the study guide:
STUDIO POSITIONS & TERMS No worries on the grade as it cannot reduce your grade below the March 13th grade. It will help you to be somewhat familiar with the crew and terms. I'm working with NEWSY Chicago studio to hold a "live" tour of their control room and get some live descriptions of what happens and can answer your questions. It will take place at 4PM and I'll let you know what day. AVTF-3
Our ZOOM session is scheduled for Thursday morning for all those interested. I'd really like to make sure you're doing OK and answer any questions about what's going to happen for the last few weeks. I'll still continue share info about EOPA Prep to keep you up to date. Please let me know if you have any questions.
